Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Annual Report of the School Committee of the City of Pawtucket, R. I: For the Year Ending June 26, 1896
Let it be said, however, and strongly emphasized, that it is no fault of the teachers' of the ninth grade that a pupil of that grade, as compared with the high school, loses time, no matter what his destination, for they are among the best teachers we have and rep resent a very, high order of teaching talent; but it is because the work is introduced mainly to piece out With - being a little litera ture, a little music, a little drawing, a little science and so on for a long list of studies, all of which, for ninth grade pupils are as well or better taught in the high school - generally better, because the conditions are more favorable.
