Excerpt from Annual Report of the Managers of the Western Pennsylvania Hospital for 1885
From the statistics of the Superintendent, annexed to this report, as you will observe, sixty-six patients were discharged during the year as restored. To return so large a number of this afiiicted class to their homes, in the enjoyment of reason and regained bodily health, is a meritorious fact, creditable to the zeal and scientific methods devoted to this end by the Medical Superintendent and his three Medical Assistants, who have charge of this department.
I refer you to the report of the Treasurer, herewith annexed, for a clear and concise statement of the receipts and expenditures of the Institution during the fiscal year as well as the accompanying Report of the Finance Committee upon its verification. These facts and figures are itemized in the monthly statements made by law to the Auditor General. To repeat them in this Report would be unneces sary amplification. The audit of the Finance Committee on all investments of the Institution in the possession of the Treasurer, are particularized, and found correct and satisfactory.
