Though the initiative in schoolhouse construction is usually taken by local school Officials, the State Department Of Education has endeavored to accept every Opportunity to assist local officials by making surveys Of schoolhouse conditions and school building needs in very many towns and cities, y advising with school' committees and building committees in the planning of SC 001 buildings, and by addressing public meetings held for the purpose Of informing the citizens as to needed improvements and extensions. In order to determine 'the full extent to which our schools have been provided with modern housing facilities Since the war period as well as to assemble helpful information in regard to location, sizes, types, and costs Of new buildings, the Department this year made a State-wide survey Of new schoolhouse construction.
