Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Annual Report of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of the City of Grand Rapids Michigan for the Year Ending April 30, 1893
Our city has been remarkably free from depre dations and crimes during the past year, compared with other cities of the Same population, and crooks have given this place a wide berth, thanks to the vigilance of our officers. But during the coming summer, a Sharp lookout will have to be kept, on account of our close proximity to Chicago and the World's Fair, which will attract a large number of crooks from all over the country, of whom some may favor us with their unwelcome visits, if their presence in Chicago should get too dangerous to their liberty, and it be desirable for them to leave without notice of their departure or their destina tion.
