Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from And Addrees: Delivered at the Inauguration of the President of Miami University; Oxford, Ohio, August, 1841
There are those who will disingenuously tell you that we indebted to the emigrants from other countries for those act lawless violence, which oflete, have so abounded in the land. View this change as utterly gratuitous. Fugitives from in other lands, who sometimes escape to ours, may be expec to be vicious and insubordinate; but, take them as a whole, .l lieve the vast body of emigrants now located among us, are much, if not more, disposed to respect the laws, than numbers our native born citizens.
