During many years I have at intervals made researches among all the trustworthy documents procurable connected with the history of my family, and have obtained a record so complete that I desire to put it in to a shape which will insure its preservation.
It is not my intention to give this book to the general public; the distribution of the few copies which 1 shall have printed will be con fined to my children, my relatives, and my most intimate friends.
