It shows how the discovery and organization of histological characters of vegetative organs can serve as an important element in the general taxonomic classification of dicotyledons.;After an historical introduction, this book deals mainly with the leaf, the herbaceous stems, and the twigs of woody plants.;The intention is that the first two volumes will serve as a textbook of systematic anatomy.
