Present age is considered as the digital age and Computational Linguistics, a branch of Linguistics, works on digitalization of languages to meet the demands of the present time. Digitalization of language facilitates smooth acquisition and sharing of knowledge among the users of a particular language. As far as digitalization is concerned, Assamese lags behind other Indian languages like Hindi, Bangla, Tamil and others. In order to place the language on equal footing with languages having strong digital presence computational work on the language must be augmented. Therefore, this study intends to investigate the advantage of using morphological rules to develop a spell-checker for Assamese language
