La sola especie de influencia que los abajo firma dos desean ejercer en la República, es una influencia de paz y de conciliacion. Quisieran persuadir a los orientales de todos los partidos a que pongan término crueles discordias, que solo pueden aprovechar a su enemigo comun, y que deben precipitar a su pátria en un abismo de males. Los abajo firmados necesitan por otra parte, del concurso sincero y sin reserva del Gobierno Oriental para llenar esta obra santa de re conciliacion, y creen conocer demasido bien sus inten ciones patrióticas a este respecto, para no temer el pedirle aquí la seguridad solemne de su entera adhe Sion.
