It has been demonstrated 5 that the Viscosity of a given mixture must always be less when the fiuidities are additive than when the viscosities are additive, hence the Viscosity 18 greatest when the lamellae are perpendicular to the direction of the shear; it is least when the lamellae are arranged parallel to the direction of shear.
