Publisher's Synopsis
The course contains 11 sections that can be completed in any order. A test is provided so you can put your knowledge to the test and are given a proposed syllabus, tailor-made to suit your needs. You do not have to follow it but the syllabus can be helpful when you decide the order in which to go through the different chapters. If you already know how the tool works and want to brush up on your knowledge, it may still be useful since it will help you to identify and fill potential gaps in your knowledge.;When you have passed the exam, you will receive a personal diploma and a grade reflecting the level of your performance. The diploma will also include the number of roses you have collected during the course of the programme. The volume summarises information about UML in order for you to brush up on the basic elements of the modeling language.;It asks how Rose relates to RUP and UML. Here the connection between the modeling language, the process and the tool is revealed. You should be guided through the tool bar, different menues and diagram windows with the assistance of Miss. Rose, your tutor whose guidance and support is available to you throughout the course.;Miss Rose also takes a look at the different UML diagrams in the tool: class diagrams; sequence diagrams; collaboration diagrams; state chart diagrams; activity diagrams; component diagrams; deployment diagrams; and case studies. You construct a new system and learn how to go about doing that in practice and also learn how to produce different diagrams based on the description of a ticket booking system. The exercise is carried out in the actual tool Rational Rose itself.;Miss Rose also teaches you about code generation, mapping, different settings and the concept of reverse engineering. She shows you how to create your own icons for stereotypes as well as how to integrate and compare models as well as rendering your models in HTML-format and how to define your own value sets. The game included on the CD-ROM, "Roses and Gardens" is to perform the tasks that you are given by Miss Rose before your time is up and the roses have grown too high in order to keep your skills at a high level.
