This commentary is a devotional study guide for individual study or group studies. It is designed to help readers gain a new level of understanding of First and Second Corinthians beyond that gained by simply reading through these letters on their own. It is also designed to bring out meaningful devotional thoughts and new insights into who Paul was and the troubling situation in the Corinthian church. Students with open minds and hearts that are attuned to the Holy Spirit will experience a fresh touch of inspiration from the messages in these two letters. Even though they were written centuries ago to a totally different cultural situation, the timeless messages in these two letter are amazingly relevant to today. In these letters, Paul addresses numerous problems that often still trouble churches and individuals today.
This study guide divides the text of First and Second Corinthians into individual passages, chapter by chapter. There are two main parts dealing with each passage. The first part is a brief Exposition and summary of the passage. The second part consists of Insights and Inspirational Thoughts drawn from the passage. At the end of each chapter there are suggested Practical Life Applications based on the eternal truths in the chapter. Also, Reflection/Discussion Points at the end of each chapter encourage further thought and reflection upon the profound eternal truths found in that chapter. If you are studying alone, meditate and reflect upon the truth emphasized by each Reflection/Discussion Point. If you are studying with others, discuss the significance of these truths with them. Suggested responses to these Reflection/Discussion Points are provide at the end of the each letter. Also, Eternal Truths from each chapter are listed at the end of each letter.
