Supported by a detailed description in the accompanying text, the maps address contemporary debates. The atlas covers prehistory and Stone Age Cultures, Indus Civilization, Vedic Age, Age of Buddha, Mauryan India and Gupta Age. In addition it has separate maps for ecomonic, political and culture aspects of India for the periods 200 BC-AD300; AD300-AD500; and AD500-AD750.
