Mr. President and Gentlemen of the Whig Society:
We celebrate to-day, the One Hundredth Anniversary of the American Whig Society, of the College of New Jersey. I cannot but feel that you have done me very great honor, in inviting me to address you upon this interesting occasion. But the task which you have imposed upon me is not without its embarrassment.
