Betreffs der altnordischen orthographie habe ich in dieser auf lage (wie auch schon in meiner 'geschichte der nordischen sprachen' in Pauls Grundriss I, V, nur die eine wichtige veränderung durchgeführt, welche mir dringend geboten schien, indem ich konsonantisches i und überall durch i, resp. U (nicht j, resp. V) wiedergebe, jenes im einklang mit allen, dieses mit den besten handschriften.
