This audio cassette provides a selection of Old English verse and prose that demonstrates the range of literature available. It includes: two extracts from "Beowulf"; Anglo-Saxon Chronicle entry for AD997; extracts from the "Law of Kings Ine"; "The Ordeal"; charms; and medicinal remedies. The printed insert includes the Old English text for the "Battle of Brunanburh". The tape may be used with Stephen Pollington's Old English course, "First Steps in Old English" (ISBN 1-898281-19-x).
