He received a BA in psychology from Texas Christian University and a doctor of osteopathic medicine and surgery at the Western University of Health Sciences/College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. Following a number of years of practice in a variety of settings, Dr. Maynard retired from the family medicine department of Scripps Clinic. He currently works as an actor, speaker, and writer and lives in Santa Fe with his wife, Laura, and his Yorkie, Stanley.
