Publisher's Synopsis
This book focuses on advances in biology. Chapter 1 is devoted to the study of the metabolic profile of tomato leaves (Solanum lycopersicum L.) by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Chapter 2 presents a comprehensive workflow for MS-based proteomics, along with a review of recent innovations and the integration of bioinformatics tools to improve peptide identification and quantification. Chapter 3 aims to unveil the detailed morphology and anatomical structures of common Plantago species used as food and medicine and suggest scientific identification procedures both for plant and drug samples to contribute to the pharmacobotanical and systematic database of medicinal plants. Chapter 4 focuses on the wonder drug macrocyclic Ivermectin (IVM) as an anti-malarial drug. Chapter 5 highlights the variety of KTPIs, their structures, functions, and biological activities, in vivo and in vitro production, purification, and characterization methods, and applications in biotechnology. Chapter 6 evaluates the short-term liquid nitrogen (LN) storage of P. venusta seeds and how this affects their in vitro germination, phenotypic and biochemical characteristics, and the production of secondary metabolites in the regenerated seedlings. Finally, Chapter 7 presents a case of a patient with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism who was misdiagnosed with AS.
