This volume covers specialized microscopical methods with particular reference to those techniques which are widely used; however, methods less known in practice are also discussed to the extent necessary to give a full insight into the state of the art in modern light microscopy. The main emphasis is on qualitative and descriptive methods, but a number of selected aspects of quantitative microscopy are also examined. The most significant quantitative methods and measuring techniques will be fully treated in Volume 3.
