This pack for teaching Advanced GNVQ art and design is designed to: give teachers a thorough understanding of the new GNVQ model; guide them in teaching the underpinning knowledge; provide student activities to reinforce learning and improve performance; provide ideas for assessment as well as a complete assessment activity for portfolio units; and provide practice material for externally assessed units. The pack includes unit-by-unit support comprising: an introduction to the unit; suggestions for linking to other units and co-teachability; an overview of teaching, learning and assessment strategies; development of key skills. The pack also has a suggested topic-breakdown, with learning activities to cover the underpinning knowledge, and suggestions for assessments as well as a number of skeleton activities, so that tutors can develop work suited to their own locality as well as one complete exemplar assessment. There are also preparation and mock tests for the type of externally assessed units students will meet and a complete list of additional resources from websites to journal articles.
