This is not how I expected my life to turn out. This is not what I thought it would look like at all. If I had intuition growing up, I was oblivious to its presence. The first 30 years of my life were spent caught up in a whirlwind of epic proportions, one bad decision in relationships leading to the next. Luckily, it wasn't all for naught. By some miracle, the better decisions I made brought me through chiropractic school, to the puppy that taught me how to love, to Eckhart Tolle's work, to Tennessee, to my husband, and to the group of friends that would cultivate the creation of Activating Ascension. The chain of events that followed changed everything for me and forever altered the course of what it means to be awake and aware. Exhausted by the whirlwind and fueled by a rapid spiritual awakening, I started to ask a lot of questions. I knew that I could not continue into my 30's in the same way I had spent my 20's. I was at a crossroads. How do I change? How do I forgive? How do I let go? My willingness to move forward took me quickly from the bus to the rocket-ship - which I'll admit, wasn't always what it was cracked up to be. I learned that faster wasn't always better. I learned that if you wanted to take those you love with you, you have to make changes slowly. You have to be able to integrate them with your life. I learned how to engage my intuition. I learned how to come into sacred space when I realized that I was at the mercy of my ego otherwise. I learned that the results of healing work lasted longer and were more impactful when there was conscious awareness of the what and the why - what is stopping me and why am I allowing it. I learned techniques to transmute these obstacles in a way that allowed me to do more than lay on the couch all day, celebrating the fact that at least I had brushed my teeth. I learned how to interweave grace and ease into the process. I learned through trial and error and through countless questions of the Universe, to God, to Divine Powers, whatever you want to call it. Two years into practice and early in 2010, I looked at my friend, Mary Jane, and said, "I think we're being asked to create a healing system." She entertained my thought and this book is the result of everything we learned along the way. More than a system for healing, this is a system for living. You know that user's manual you would have liked to have had or thought your incarnation should have included? This is it. This book is the result of the answers and guidance I received. I would love to say this endeavor is completely altruistic. That, however, would be a lie. I am sharing this philosophy, this way of being in the world, because I truly believe it saved my life. It stopped anger from consuming me, it fostered self-worth and self confidence within me, it showed me love. If it can do that for you too, then so be it.
