That after the expiration of the said fourteen days the United States shall continue to furnish such medical and surgical aid and assistance as may be reasonably required, including hospital service, in an amount not exceeding. $200, unless such employee elects to furnish his own physician or surgeon, or care for himself. The compensation hereinafter provided shall be in addition to all such surgical, medical, and hospital services as set forth in this and the preceding section.
