Many statements Jesus taught in the Sermon on the Mount have become idiomatic in the English language. These include "blessed are the poor," "you are the light of the world," "turn the other cheek," "seek and you will find" and many others. Often this and other statements that Jesus taught are misinterpreted and misapplied. As a means of understanding what our Lord meant by the words He taught to His disciples, I have taken the approach that He intended this words for His disciples
