This book, which is Concerned wholly with the operative side of gynaecology, is a record of our own personal methods, and of experience acquired during our years of service at the Middlesex Hospital and the Chelsea Hospital for Women. It may also be taken as re?ecting the practice of the school of gynaecological surgery to which we belong. It sets forth in detail the indications for gynaecological operations, the preoperative preparation, the operative technique, the postoperative treatment, and the dangers to be avoided, with the possible complications and their appropriate treatment. The black-and-white illustrations, depicting the successive stages of all the most important and the most frequently performed operations, will, we believe, be found helpful in elucidating the text. The subjects of the coloured plates have been carefully chosen with the object of illustrating the female pelvic organs in their normal and in various pathological states.
