Publisher's Synopsis
Adapted from one of Jean Giraudou'x most anarchic plays, Supplement tells the story of a British minister/taxidermist who has been sent to the island of Tahiti by Cook in order to teach the natives the three tenets of "civilization" ("Work!" "Property!" "Morality!") before allowing his sailors to mingle with the Polynesians. However, the minister - and his wife - discover that Tahiti holds far more temptations than perhaps even the British can handle. At once strident and comedic and thought-provoking, Supplement is a classic culture clash, but one as only as the fantastical world of Giraudoux can provide.
