Whil? we were lately prefi'ed with the Calamities of War; when Rebellion advanced with fierce Counte nance, and_pointed even to the Capital; though fome appeared to have no Feeling of the Danger, yet the Hearts of many began to faint. Willing to fecure a Friend in cafie of Extremity, they called upon the Lord for Help, and his Temples were filled with Votaries. But when the Danger was blown over, the Imprelfions it occafioned were foon worn out. Peace brought with it Security both within and without. T he Fear of the Lord vanifhed with the Fear of Man, and Religion. Gave Place'to Vice and to Vanity.
