Publisher's Synopsis
This book explores the tribe "antirrhineae" which includes snapdragons and toadflaxes and belongs to the figwort family. In some classifications it is treated as an independent family.;This monograph draws upon a database of about 4000 plant names and more than 1300 publications on the taxonomy of the "antirrhineae". Scanning electron microscopy has made possible the survey of seed morphology which provides a rich source of characters for testing existing classifications.;The descriptions cover 27 genera representing 328 species, including 27 new taxa. Areas of taxonomic controversy discussed include the generic delimitation and supraspecific classificaton of "linaria".
