There is an assistant yard-master each for the east-bound, grain, and empty yards. The regular yard engine weighs about 26% tons, all on four drivers, the total weight, with tender loaded, being abot1t 40 tons it consumes about 4 tons of coal in 24 hours.
This whole force is largely increased during the busy winter months, eight engines being sometimes in use.
