The term ectopic pregnancy is used to describe a pregnancy that occurs outside of the usual place in the female reproductive system. There are two main types of ectopic pregnancy: an indirect tubular pregnancy and a direct tubular pregnancy. In indirect tubular pregnancies, the embryo or fetus becomes stuck in one of the tubes that lead from the uterus to the ovaries. In direct tubular pregnancies, the embryo or fetus becomes stuck in one of the tubes that lead from the uterus to the cervix.
