Can a man carrying the weight of tragedy lay down those burdens enough to love again? Can he forget the past and embrace a new future? Those were two of many hard questions Mandy asked herself about Guy as she tries to ignore her doubts. She came to Texas to teach but realizes in a flash of reason how much she hates the climate, hates teaching, and longs for her Wyoming mountains. She quits and on a whim takes a job as a cook in a logging camp in Canada. She remembers how satisfying it was to cook for her family and ranch hands and thinks this temporary job will give her time to sort out her life goals. Mandy is not interested in any of the loggers but a forester who lives half of Canada away. Guy brings his crew to her camp to fight a forest fire and is intrigued by the camp cook. Mandy and her forester must go to extreme lengths to spend time together, but it appears that is not enough to decide if they have a future together.
