Publisher's Synopsis
Barely out of his teens, W. R. Garrett found himself in North Africa on his way to join the Eighth Army. The former country boy, with idealistic views of why he was fighting, couldn't possibly have known the implications. He was to learn - quickly. He and his comrades didn't understand, until it was all over, that their brutal encounters with Germans and Italians had contributed to the rout of Rommel at El Alamein. This is the story of one man's war, and his later service, as a member of the Military Police, throughout the Middle East.
