This is an introduction to the concepts involved in problem solving in ISO PASCAL (The ANSI standard in the USA is expected to conform to the ISO/BSI standard in the near future) using either a time sharing system or a microcomputer. It covers both structured and modular programming, as well as techniques for problem solving in "top-down and bottom-up".;After discussion of the background to computing and programming, there is a brief history of program language development and an introduction to PASCAL. This describes a number of the concepts necessary for a thorough understanding of PASCAL. The author also reviews a number of issues important to the programming context.
