Publisher's Synopsis
This book introduces the concepts involved in problem solving in ISO (The ANSI standard in the USA is expected to conform to the ISO/BSI standard in the near future) Pascal using either a time sharing system or a microcomputer. It covers both structured and modular programming, as well as techniques for problem solving in "top-down and bottom-up".;After discussion of the background material to computing and programming, there is a brief history of program language development and an introduction to Pascal. This introduces a number of the concepts necessary for a thorough understanding of Pascal. The author also reviews a number of issues which are of importance when one examines the context in which programming is undertaken: to conclude the book, there is a real-life case study.;The text was developed from a course on Pascal given to a wide variety of students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including lectures and closely supervised terminal sessions/micro-based tutorials.
