Publisher's Synopsis

Paresh Maity is perhaps India's most successful contemporary artist. Nemai Ghosh is one of India's best-known photographers, one with beginnings in a golden past. The two met fortuitously at an exhibition in Kolkata, and as they conversed they realised that they had much in common-including common roots in the same district in Bengal. Maity, spontaneous and mercurial as ever, made Ghosh an irresistible offer.Ghosh was to shoot Maity as he travelled and worked in places across India and the globe. He would document the artist's present-day life and of Maity revisiting places from his past. As he shot and composed frames and built a narrative, Ghosh began to take on a new role: as the director of this story. The result is a book that brings together the genius of Ghosh and Maity, and a compelling visual chronicle of an artist at work.
