Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Note-Book in Northern Spain
A brief description of certain trips in the North of Spain, and the book, with few exceptions, is made up from notes by the way. Some care has been given to the preparation of the illustrations, many of which are from photographs specially taken, and it is hoped that few inaccuracies have crept into the text. The portion of the Peninsula described has been thought to lack some what of that romantic interest which has grown up for the South, but in Santiago, - the early Christian Cordova, - in the small Gallegan city, where, it is claimed, the bones of Saint James still lie; in Oviedo, Zaragoza, and the little-known towns of the Pyrenees, there is a wealth of tradition and local interest unsurpassed even in the South.
