Excerpt from A New Guide for Travelers Through the United States of America: Containing All the Railroad, Stage, and Steamboat Routes, With the Distances From Place to Place; Accompanied by a Large and Accurate Map
IN presenting this little Work to the public, the compiler ventures to assert that it will be found more full and com plete than any that has preceded it. Care has been taken to ascertain the correct distances, -the obtaining of which has been much facilitated by the use of materials from the Post office department, and by a direct correspondence with the different Railroad Companies. The Railroads, with the Depots, and the distances between them, are shown in the Tables of Routes, with an accurate delineation on the ao companying Map; together with all the Steamboat and Stage Routes. Great labor has been bestowed in collating and adjusting, in the most minute manner, on the Map, a larger amount of correct information than can be found in any similar work, in such a condensed form.
