Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Naturalist's Holiday: Idle Hours on the Cornish Coast
The title of this volume is a concession to'those friends who declare that my four and a half years' sojourn in a Cornish coast village was one long holiday. The truth is, I had retreated thither for quiet literary and scientific work; but my protests to this effect not having been regarded seriously, I have at length decided to bow to their superior knowledge of What constitutes a holiday, and to accept their View of the matter. This course has become more easy to take now that several years of. London life lie between me and my pleasant idlings among the rocks and the rambles along cliffs and sands.
