An Executive Committee was chosen to give effect to the desires of the people as they found expression in the press and in the addresses of the gentlemen who had responded to the call. This committee was empowered by vote to raise the funds needed, to determine the form which the Memorial should take, and to proceed, without further instructions, to do all that the meeting had outlined.
