Publisher's Synopsis
With this Festschrift we, a circle of students, friends and colleagues who have valued Dieter Schuh since we met him in his lectures, at symposia or in his institute, would like to congratulate the jubilarian on his 80th birthday and honour his enormous contribution to Tibetology. We would also like to express our gratitude for his openness, his passion for dis-cussion, his willingness to share with us his insights and analyses, and not least the valuable support which he has always and unreservedly been willing to grant us. He has had a significant influence on our work and our understanding of scholarship, he opened up paths for us, and not infrequently he led us to explore ideas which would play a crucial role in our studies.
