Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A History of the Starr Family, of New England, From the Ancestor, Dr. Comfort Starr, of Ashford, County of Kent, England, Who Emigrated to Boston, Mass., In 1635: Containing the Names of 6766 of His Descendants, and the Record and History of 1794 Families
Laid aside from active business and from all the cares and excitements of a too busy life - actuated by honest pride of ancestral name, and deep interest in our family history - I commenced in my somewhat wearisome retirement the agreeable task of collecting these Starr Records. It was not undertaken for my own gratification merely, but as a labor of love, to collect and preserve these precious family records, which are fast becoming obscured by age or utterly lost by careless neglect - to be finally deposited in the archives of the Conn. Historical Society, for the free use of the future historian or any interested member of the family, confident that they would appreciate even the small aid thus lovingly rendered for the benefit of all the family.
