Publisher's Synopsis
A genealogical history of the Allen and Wilson families and how they arrived in southern Illinois, their role in the Civil War, and beyond. Most of our knowledge about the past is limited to prominent personalities such as US presidents, state governors, members of the US Senate, etc. Significantly less attention has been paid to the millions of common people who have played a part in American history. Finding out about my own ancestors, their lives, and gaining an understanding of the times in which they lived adds a little information to my knowledge of the eras in which they lived and worked.
