In punctuation, it has seldom been found necessary to change that of Tischendorfs last edition. The excellence of the work in this matter is due to the careful revision of the sheets by my friend Prof. Charles Short of Columbia College my grateful acknowledgments are also due to several other friends for their patient examination and correction of the proofs, sheet by sheet. The formation of paragraphs has been mainly determined by the excellent arrangement of Dr. Coit.
