The compiler of this book is not a professional genealogist, and has not tried to follow prescribed custom, but rather his own idea of what such a work should be. It is hoped that, with a careful reading of the explanatory notes, it may be an easy matter for any one to grasp the intent of the book on first examination.
We are painfully conscious that many family records are incomplete, the fault for which depends mostly on descendants who neglected or declined to respond to requests for information. Effort was made to have every record complete, and brief sketches have been included whenever possible.
