It is to be regretted that the records are not more complete in some of the branches. Owing to a lack of interest in the matter, some, for reasons best known to themselves, failed to respond to inquiries for infor mation concerning their respective families, thereby causing these defects. The effort has been in the direction of making the work as full, correct and reliable as possible. The work has been prepared at a great sacrifice of time and labor. Had all promptly responded to communications the work would have been far easier and more complete. The writer is aware that imperfections exist, but pleads in extenua tion of the fact that the difficulties were insurmountable.
