AS the chronology of ancient Egypt has of late ex cited considerable attention among those who attach interest to the history of the primaeval world, it ap peared to the author of the following pages, that some service might be rendered to this branch of study, by a careful inquiry into the first elements of the chrono graphical art among the inhabitants of that country that is to say, their methods of computing and divid ing time by months, years, or other periods.
