Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Discourse on the Fortieth Anniversary: Of the Author's Ministry in Pittsburgh and Allegheny, Delivered in the First Presbyterian Church, Allegbeny City, at the Morning and the Evening Services, Sabbath, November 6, 1859
Ministers of the gospel are stewards of the Lord. He calls them, in the exercise of his high prerogative, by his providence at certain seasons, to give an account of their stewardship. In responding, on the present occasion, to such a'call, it will be natural to rehearse, after the ex ample of the Apostles, some of those things which God has done for the spiritual welfare of this community.
