Ministers. The royal veto on legislation had not been exercised since 1692, but the King still had the power to block legislation by forbidding the intro duction of measures to which he was opposed. As late as 18 3 1, the Prime Minister had to obtain the King's consent to the introduction of the Reform Bill.
