Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Chat With the Ladies About House Building
Until comparatively recent years one ex cuse for building of wood was that it cost so much less than any other material, and. In fact, even moderately fireproof dwellings were beyond the reach of any but the wealthy. It is no longer so. There is re ally no object for building of wood Ito-day. Most of us keep on_doing it simply and solely because we have gotten into the habit of it, and that there are large sections of country where we have not yet been pro hibited from using it. Lumber is growing scarcer every day, it has gone far above 100 per cent over its cost twenty years ago, while brick, and tile, and cement, and other incombustible and indestructible materials are cheaper by far than they were at that same period.
