Known as Son of Sam, Berkowitz was captured on August 10, 1977, 11 days after his last homicide, and was condemned to six continuous 25-years-to-life terms.Born Richard David Falco to a devastated Jewish mother on June 1, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York, Berkowitz was embraced by Jewish-American home improvement shop retailers Nathan and Pearl Berkowitz when he was only days old. He was apparently a savvy kid however was pained in his own particular manner. Having been near his mom, he had an exceptionally troublesome time as a teen adapting to her demise. At 18 years old, Berkowitz enrolled in the U.S. Armed force and served in South Korea where he dominated as a capable marksman.
In the wake of completing military assistance in 1974, Berkowitz got back to New York where he found a new line of work as a letter sorter for the U.S. Postal Service and sunk into a loft in Yonkers. Neighbors and colleagues portrayed him as an introvert who minded his own business.
