Auxiliary associations were speedily organized in other parts of Mississippi, as well as in the States of Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Louisiana: popular enthusiasm was aroused and was effectively manifested at the presidential election which followed, by greatly increased majorities in favor of the party pledged to carry that measure into effect.
